Jori Sparry is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 24 years experience. Jori is dedicated to supporting individuals and families on their journey toward healing and growth. Her extensive background in various therapeutic settings has equipped her with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to address a wide range of challenges.

 

Jori's obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University majoring in Psychology and a minor in Religious Studies. Driven by her passion for understanding the intricacies of human relationships, Jori pursued a Master of Science degree with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her training included being supervised and mentored by William Boylin, Ph.D., who himself was supervised and trained by Carl Whitaker, M.D. – a true pioneer in family therapy and the visionary behind Symbolic Experiential Therapy.

 

Throughout her career, Jori has accumlated a wealth of experience across diverse settings. From inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation to foster care/adoption and a crisis stabilization home for teenagers, she has worked tirelessly to make a positive impact on the lives of her clients.

Her compassionate and nurturing approach has helped individuals and families navigate through difficult circumstances with resilience and strength.

 

In 2004, Jori established her own private practice in Connecticut, where she provided personalized and effective therapy services. In 2008, she relocated to Illinois with her family, continuing her commitment to serving her clients.

 

Jori's dedication extends beyond her private practice. She has worked in the role of the development and facilitation of a federally funded grant program, working directly with abused children. Her experience working with military service members, law enforcement and first responders has given her a deep understanding of the unique challenges they face. Jori has had the privilege of lecturing at large pre-deployment and reunification programs for military service members, working with all branches of active service, National Guard, reserve members, and their families.

 

As a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and a member of the Illinois Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, Jori stays at the forefront of her field, continually expanding her knowledge and refining her therapeutic approach. Her style of therapy is characterized by a direct and nurturing approach, empowering her clients to overcome obstacles and discover their true potential.

 

Jori's expertise encompasses a wide range of areas, including traumatic life events, post-traumatic stress disorder, marital and family issues, blended family dynamics, divorce, infertility, families with multiples, depression, anxiety, and supporting law enforcement, first responders and military service members and their families. 

 

Jori is also a certified mediator approved through the 10th Judicial District, enabling her to mediate issues related to custody and divorce, providing families with a compassionate and effective resolution process.

 

Additionally, she is a Qualified SAP providing substance abuse assessments for drivers who hold a CDL working with the Department of Transportation. 

 

In the face of crisis, Jori firmly believes there is an opportunity for growth. Through her commitment to her clients' well-being and her comprehensive therapeutic skills, her goal in working with clients is to provide an environment in which they can be challenged and supported towards continued growth.
